| About the Translations |
As of version 1.5.0, Form Tools is now available in multiple languages.
Who does the translation?
Anybody bi-lingual! Translations are managed by Open Translate - a separate script, currently also in Beta. If you are bi-lingual and would like to help with either translating or authenticating existing translations, please contact me and I will see about setting you up an account with Open Translate.
We deeply appreciate the help and support of our translators. They enable Form Tools to be used in any language.
About Open Translate
Open Translate is a translation management system, especially geared towards open source / free projects. It provides a common interface for project managers and translators to import, translate, manage and export data.
The age-old problem with having anything translated is that you doesn’t always know when a translation is good - not unless you speak the language it’s being translated into. With projects that require translations into many languages the likelihood that you speak every one becomes increasingly unrealistic: how many languages do you speak?
Open Translate solves this problem. It employs a review-based mechanism to authenticate each translation. Each translation must reach a “review threshold” before it’s approved; multiple translators must review each translation and mark it as approved before the translation is completed and closed.
About the Available Translations
Translations made through Open Translate are automatically exported to the Form Tools site every hour and may be downloaded on the Available Translations page. Each translation has two criteria: percent translated and percent reliable.
Incomplete translations are padded out with the original English text, to ensure that every language file has no text missing.
The "percent reliable" option gives you some idea of how reliable each translation is. As mentioned above, every translation must be reviewed by multiple translators in order to be marked as fully trusted.
